Description
Introduced by Fulper in 1910, the Zwick Liqour Set included a decanter, which advertisements called a "jug," as well as six toddy cups. Finished, at least initially, in a "mirrored green" glaze and retailing for $4.00, the set was part of Fulper's Vasekraft line that sought to make quality art pottery at an affordable price point. The pinched sides of the jug and toddy cups derived from Japanese ceramics, though this strategy is seen throughout ceramics and glass of the late 19th and early 20th ceramics.
Stickley's interest in the pottery predates featuring the firm's wares in The Craftsman, which first wrote about the firm in October 1914. By 1915, he was using the firm to produce lamp bases for model no. 101 D.
